It's not the cow, it's the how ||

There's few more passionate about how they graze their animals than the Pickards at Pasture2Plate who sell 100% grass-fed meat direct from their Fife farm. Their focus is farming sustainably to ensure that not only are their animals healthy but, by thinking about what plant life they grow, everything above and below the soil is too. In our guest blog, the Pickards tell us about what matters:

We are so passionate about how we graze and finish our lambs and cows here at Ormiston and truly believe that it makes our meat not only delicious and nutritious but also more sustainable. We farm in a regenerative way ensuring that not only are our animals are healthy but everything above and below the soil is too.

All our meat is 100% grass fed and antibiotic free but we feel we go the extra mile by making sure our pastures are diverse in plant life with a mix of grasses, herbs, wildflowers and legumes. It is proven that meat produced in this way is lower in fat but higher in omega-3 and a variety of vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin A and E.

We feel it is so important to understand where your meat comes from and how it’s produced.

Beef production is getting a lot of bad press at the moment but it’s not the cow, it’s the how! There are so many farmers in the UK doing an amazing job and producing beef in a more sustainable way. We urge you to do your research and try and support your local supplier.

From the farm, we sell sustainably reared, grass-fed Scotch Lamb and Scotch Beef meat boxes, joints, cuts, mince, sausages and meatballs.
