Free roaming ||

The turkeys are now free roaming in the paddock, which has been perfectly fertilised by the sheep giving them lots of long lush fresh grass to explore.

They spend the first few weeks indoors to keep warm and grow into fuller feather which will protect them from the elements, followed by a couple of weeks in the polytunnel with lots of fresh air and light to gradually ease into the outdoors.

They are now out all day foraging for insects and nettles, and soon the apples will fall from the trees we've planted in the paddock over the last few years which they love.

This freedom to roam and enjoy the outdoors allows the turkeys to be as they would in the wild, foraging, having dust baths to cool down and growing slowly and naturally.
